Obituary of Douglas George Bousfield

In Memory of

Douglas George Bousfield

1943-2021

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Douglas George Bousfield at home on March 20, 2021 surrounded by his family.  Predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years Phyliss Audrey Bousfield (Moyer) in 2009.  He will be sadly missed by his four children, Ann Erb (Dave), Nancy Kennedy (Mark), Douglas Bousfield (Jeannine) and Barbara Groznik (Edward). Cherished grandfather and Tractor Papa to Benjamin Erb (Amanda), Matthew Erb (Emma), Steve Kennedy, Trevor Kennedy, Alexa, Brianne and Ava Bousfield, Joseph, Thomas, Stephen and Katherine Groznik. Great Grandfather to Felicity and Andrew Kennedy.

Doug lived his entire life in the Vineland and Beamsville area and was a proud third-generation electrician for over 50 years. He liked to tinker in the garage working on his various tractors and became lovingly known as Tractor Papa. He enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed the company of the family pets. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice or support to his family and friends. His knowledge was a valuable resource. His sense of humour, quick wit and poetic little songs will be missed.

Cremation has taken place. Private family service will be held at a future date.

As an expression of sympathy if desired donations in memory of Doug can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Poem of Love to our Dad

A tree of a man, back in his prime

Hands that were covered with oil and grime.

Electrician by trade and by profession

Classic cars and tractors were an obsession.

No job too big or job too small

There was nothing he could not do at all.

No matter the season, summer, fall, winter, or spring

Always tinkering on some little thing.

Home improvements were many over his time

Grandchildren on his lap were welcome to climb.

Built the great room for family gatherings to hold

“Bring on the party” we were always told.

From plumbing or gardening in the backyard

Not afraid to get dirty and work real hard.

Family was most important that was for certain

All gathered ‘round at his final curtain.

March 20th, 8:25 came and went

Now another angel is heaven sent.

It’s hard to believe that you are gone

We’ll miss your wisdom and funny little songs.

We take comfort to know you are no longer in pain

Teardrops fall like the dewfall on a window pane.

We’ll remember the good times and try not to be sad

Rest in Peace dear Grandpa, Tractor Papa and Dad.
