Obituary of Judith VanDoorslaer
Judith Van Doorslaer (1950-2021)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our much loved wife, mother and grandmother, Judith Van Doorslaer (nee Brutsaert) on May 2, 2021 as a result of a tragic accident. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at the age of 71. With joy, we celebrate knowing that she is with all those she loved, and who went ahead to prepare a place for her with our Lord at the eternal banquet. Her greatest legacy is her family and she leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of 50 years, Marcel, her children Marleen (Richard) Van De Wiele, Catharine (Donald) Sorensen and Peter (Shawna) Van Doorslaer. She was the extremely proud and loving grandmother, “Meter”, to Celeste (Andrew), Christine, Alexander (Taylor) and Jennifer Van De Wiele, Aurora and Gavin Sorensen, and Cameron and Drew Van Doorslaer. They will all miss their Meter dearly. Judith was predeceased by her parents, Georges and Martha Brutsaert, her in-laws, Frans and Elza Van Doorslaer, and her brother in-law Hugo Van Doorslaer, all in Belgium.
Judith was born in Wilrijk, Belgium on January 6, 1950. She attended nursing school in Leuven where she met her lifelong love and partner, Marcel. After their marriage in 1970, and with their endless sense of adventure, they immigrated to Canada to start their new life. They eventually settled in Beamsville, Ontario. There Judith worked in the family vineyard while raising her family. In 1991, Judith and Marcel built their dream home and enjoyed many years taking care of the property and each other. Judith loved to travel, garden, quilt and crochet and spent much time entertaining and visiting with her family and large group of friends. Judith lived by example, demonstrating loving devotion to her family and friends. Judith touched the lives of those she knew deeply with her intense and infinite capacity to love.
In keeping with Judith’s expressed wishes, cremation will take place. Due to the current Covid restrictions, pre-registration for visitation is required.
