Obituary of Susan Margaret Bermuhler
Bermuhler, Susan (1954 – 2021) - A gentle, kind soul has left us. Susan Bermuhler (EPP)faced her illness with courage, dignity and concern for how her cancer diagnosis would affect others, especially her beloved husband Fred, her daughter Nikki and her grandson Chad.
Predeceased by her mother Hilda Epp and sister Laurie, Susan leaves her siblings Fritz and husband Wayne, David and wife Lynn, Donald and wife Chrissa, Ruth Epp and Larry with wife Kathi. Brother-in-law Dave Slingerland with wife Ineka, Brother-in-law Rob Bermuhler with wife Patty, mother-in-law Elsa, along with their families. Her easy laugh and obvious affection will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Susan worked in retail her whole life, where she made life-long friends at Canadian Tire and Sears. She loved gardening and spent countless happy hours in her beautiful backyard oasis, the site of many family events. She adopted Fred’s family of relatives in Germany as her own, visiting back and forth many times over the years. Her loss is deeply felt by many who loved her there as well.
Susan simply loved their many happy trips to Cuba, Florida and Sauble Beach. She made a walk on the beach an event, and was never happier than when walking with Fred, exploring the sand for shells or checking the horizon for dolphins. Her love and appreciation for the simple things in life was infectious.
Her special bond with her grandson Chad motivated her last few months more than anything else. Her pride in him, her love for him, was obvious to all. Her happy marriage of 39 years, the many visits of countless friends and the support of her family are proof of a life well lived.
Susan will be missed by life-long friend Betsy Eyeman, thanks as well to Debbie Starrs for being such a wonderful friend. Thanks as well to our friends and neighbours.
Special thanks to Dr. Nowicki, Dr. Maybe and Dr. Phillips for such compassionate care. Thanks to Pam, Georgina, Alex, Merrick and all the home care nurses and PSWs who provided the best possible care for Susan. A special thanks to Walker Family Cancer Centre.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation to Walker Family Cancer Clinic would be appreciated.
