Lukas was a great boss and role model to me. He rushed me to the hospital after a serious incident at work. He stayed with me, prayed for me and visited me while I was recovering. I miss him deeply.

Dear Trish,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Lucas was a great man and gave me a shot to work with him before he even met me. He was a great boss and turned into a great friend. He was very respected by everyone that worked on his crew when I did. He took an interest in all of us and always made people feel wanted. He was a rare person that was instantly trustworthy. He will be missed.

To you, Trish; your children and all those who have had the honour of having Lukas in your life, I share in your deep sadness.
I have known Lukas since we both lived in Vineland, both went to Vineland Public School. We reconnected much later and my most impactful memory is almost 20 years ago now when Lukas lived in the Jordan Hollow. I was leading an outreach team, "Take Flight", out of Eden High School and we wanted a place to gather - to connect, share and prepare ourselves for our ministry in Uruguay. Some of the other details fail me now, but my distinct feeling memory is of Lukas graciously and generously offering the little cabin/sanctuary on his property. Each time we went, he prepared the place for us, had the wood stove going, and he would - with an easy smile, be so curious and supportive of what we were doing. It was during this time, that Lukas and I looked at each other and said, "whoah" how is it that our faces look so similar?! From then on, whenever Lukas and I saw each other, Lukas and I joked that we were a special kind of "twins". It was a little joke that always brought me joy - and really - who wouldn't experience joy with Lukas - always a little sparkle in his eyes. When I read what Lukas shared recently about his recent career change, it only made sense that, as he said, he has always been about people. That is true of my experience.
My hope and prayer for you and your family, Trish - is the gift that Lukas gave you will continue to give in the form of the people he has impacted. I hope you feel supported, loved and cared for. Sending all of you love.

Dear Trish, I don't know if you remember me -- my name is SueAnne (nee Hawton) van Galen and we're second cousins on your dad's side. I want you to know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you and your children at this time. There's nothing bad that happens in this world that cannot be redeemed. May God grant you the patience and courage to mourn your beloved husband. "I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil" (from "The Return of the King" by JRR Tolkien). Take care and God bless, SueAnne

It goes without saying that Lukas was a great person in every way imaginable. It is impossible to think of some aspect of life Lukas did not excel in, however, his ultimate superpower was in the very genuine care he had for others. Every time I spoke with Lukas he seemed to be figuring out a way to make me say good bye with more joy and mirth than I had arrived with. Lukas immediately considered in what ways he could help others and generously took in multiple high school students to teach them the technical and soft skills that made Lukas so successful as a builder. I wish Lukas could have lived 1000 years for all the positive impacts he had on everyone he met and worked with. I am so very sorry first for Trish and all family members, and also for others because Lukas really was a uniquely good and great person.
When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.
When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.
When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.
Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance,
fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
of dark, cold
caves.
And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.

It saddens my heart greatly to hear of you and your families loss:(
I knew Lukas while going to C.C.C and attending youth group there. He was dedicated to music and had a passion for it, this was evident whenever I'd hear him play in church.
Recently, he worked alongside my brother Marcelo where he left a positive impression:)
Lukas was an all around good hearted man. He was truly loving and genuine. I would even go as far to say that he definitely lived by the Golden Rule. Lukas displayed a humble attitude and would treat others the way he would want to be treated. He always wore a warm smile to match the warm heart God gave him. I'm proud to of known him.

It’s hard to find words to express all of the grief wrapped up in this tragedy. We pray daily for you all for strength to take that next step, and for the nearness of Christ in tangible ways in this valley of the shadow of death. May the God of all Comfort guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and may His grace sustain you every minute of every day. We grieve with you, knowing that our hope and yours is that He is safe in the arms of Jesus, and anticipating that glorious day when we will all be reunited with our loved ones and see Jesus face to face!

We are so deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Lukas was such a cool guy. As a kid going to Vineland Public School, I looked up to Lukas. I will never forget our yearly talent show/lip sync in the gym one year, when the song “leader of the pack” began playing. Suddenly, from the utilityroom, the sound of a dirt bike starting and revving loudly. The doors open, and out comes Lukas, on his dirt bike, cutting through the audience like a pro. I was mesmerized. Before that, he was the older kid that was kind and yet so cool. After that, he was the man.
God Bless and comfort your family as you mourn this tragic loss.

It seems impossible to find words to express our deep sorrow for you Trish, Bryden, Riley and Miaya. We are in constant prayer for your family and we want you to know how much we care about you all. Our favourite things about Lukas were his fun-loving personality, his ability to make us laugh and his tender heart towards people. We can picture him working on one of his construction projects that was near the kids' school back in 2019. We would drive by Lukas and his crew in the mornings on the way to school, we would honk and wave. We especially appreciated how much he loved you Trish and Bryden, Riley and Miaya. We are holding vigil in our hearts for you...
