John came to Canada from Paraguay with his parents and siblings in 1956 and settled in St. Catharines, Ontario. He built a house on Rochelle Drive, where he and Elizabeth lived until 2015. Many family memories centered around their home where friends and family were always welcome. John worked in construction until his “retirement” at age 65, passing the business on to his son, Ron. He could be seen on the job site for many years after, still helping out because he loved working alongside his son and grandsons passing on his knowledge and skills.
In 2018, John found love again and married Frieda Friesen. They had three wonderful years together sharing their love of playing games with each other and with their friends. They also travelled up north a few times before Covid 19 restricted their travel. It was evident they truly enjoyed each other’s company. The family would like to thank the wonderful, professional and compassionate staff at the Hamilton General Hospital for the care they gave John in his last two weeks.
The family will receive friends at the Vineland chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes. 3277 King St. On Monday, August 2 from 6:00 - 8:00pm.
