Simone Gadal

Obituary of Simone Louise Gadal

Gadal, Simone - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Simone Gadal in her 93rd year surrounded by family at the St Peter’s Residence at Chedoke, Hamilton.  Predeceased by her loving husband Emile of 64 years (2011) and survived by her children Lorette (Don)Leek, Roger (Michele)Gadal and Donald (Carol)Gadal.  Simone enjoyed family get togethers (especially Christmas) and spoiling her grandchildren Rachel (Renato), Samara, Jason (Judy), Adam (Kirsten) and Meghan as well as her great grandchildren, Elliott, Nathan  and James.

Simone was an avid seamstress excelling in bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses.  She made many local customers happy with custom clothes and alterations. When she wasn’t sewing or looking after her family, she was knitting, crocheting or finding some craft to keep herself busy.  She and Emile were regulars at Bingo and the two of them enjoyed looking after their huge garden which supplied them with enough vegetables for the year and enough canned tomatoes for the whole family.

Simone, the second of nine children also leaves behind siblings Emma Summers, Adrienne Dheilly (Odette) and Madeline White (Bob).

Many thanks to the staff at Tara Retirement Home who provided excellent care and made Simone feel like part of the family and to the staff at St Peter’s Residence at Chedoke for the comfort and support provided to Simone in her final months.

Visitation will be at St Josephs Church, 135 Livingston Rd, Grimsby on Wednesday, Sept 15th at 10:30 with mass to follow at 11:30.  Interment at Mount Osborne Cemetery, Beamsville.
