Mr. Franz sure left an impression on me as a teenager in wood shop... he had a funny accent and a humorous nature and as a kid you were drawn to respect what he was teaching. One time in class, in retrospect probably a teaching moment for himself as well, he was demonstrating the danger of a table saw and let the piece of 2x4 grab, flinging it into the blackboard and putting a hole in it... WHERE ARE THE AMAZING TEACHERS LIKE THIS MAN TODAY???
RIP, sir. Thank you.
David Murray, Grimsby Secondary, some time in the late 80’s

As a teacher and friend he was always there for his students whenever they needed a friendly ear and solid advice.
I had the pleasure of having many a lunch break with him as he would recount many of his child hood stories of hardships that would teach us the power of faith! And how through faith you can overcome all obstacles.
My wife and I will miss our old friend and teacher he said he knew we where ment for each other and 30 years on he was definitely bang on.

I remember Mr Franz fondly from just one year of his wood shop. He treated me so nice in grade 9 wood-shop and and encouraged me with new skills. I have always remembered him. I still proudly have the table that he helped me make back in 1974. Thanks Mr Franz you taught me so much, and I still wood work to this day. May you rest well.

I was privileged to meet Vic for the first time around 1970 when we were both working on building a chalet for Walter Funk builders on the escarpment in Jordan. He was a very friendly individual who took the opportunity to share with me, a teenager, some carpentry skills. I had never done cedar shakes before and he left a strong impression because of his patience and genuine interest in me. Whenever our paths crossed throughout time, it was like meeting an old friend. I am sad to hear of his passing as he was someone I could genuinely respect and am pleased to honour. My sincere condolences to the family. Grace and peace to you all!
