Obituary of Janeen Ann McAdam
It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Janeen McAdam, 83, who passed away peacefully Friday, December 24, 2021. Beloved widow to Ernie McAdam. Janeen and Ernie chose Stratford to call their home through their retirement years together. Both Janeen and Ernie enjoyed their time as long-standing Stratford Friends of the Festival volunteers. Janeen was passionate about life around her and often mentioned that she would make time to stop and smell the roses along the way. Janeen enjoyed the rich culture of the Shakespeare Festival community and for more than 20 years devoted a tremendous amount of volunteer hours while enjoying time with their friends and other volunteers.
Janeen was extremely proud of her 4 sons and daughter; Steven and Michael, along with Neil, Michael, Suzanne, from the blended marriage. Janeen and Ernie took great pride in sharing their home every Christmas season on many occasions with friends and family who would gather for the annual carol sing. Janeen a skilled pianist, enjoyed playing a selection of both Christmas classics and oldies well suited for carollers to sing along from her custom prepared song books. Janeen took her volunteer role as head scheduler for the Festival volunteers very seriously to ensure guests of the Theatre had the best possible experience. Janeen treasured the moments giving back to the Festival leading backstage tours or volunteering at the costume warehouse.
A close volunteer friend who recognized her dedication wrote a poem for Janeen “An Ode to the Scheduler”:
…The Scheduler speaks in measured tones,
Above the wails, the Cries, the moans.
She smiles, she signs, she keeps her cool.
The Scheduler has a secret tool.
At Janeen’s final wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Shakespeare Festival Theatre.
