Obituary of Constance Frances Anne Klassen

The world lost a beautiful wife and beloved mother, Constance “Connie” Frances Anne Klassen, at the age of 58, on February 22, 2022 at Toronto General Hospital after a short but courageous battle.

She will be forever missed by the love of her life and husband of 36 years, John. She was everything you could want, and more, in a mother to Ashley (Colin) and Brian, and a loving grandmother to Abigail. 

Born in Port Colborne to Tony (late) and Clara Danis, she was the adored baby sister of Peter (Micheline) Danis, Helen (Dave) McKee, Pauline (the late Jim) Spiece, and Hank (Diane) Danis. On September 21, 1985 she became the daughter in law to Abe (late) and Gertrude Klassen and the sister in law to Elsie (the late Jim) Robertson, Harry (Terri) Klassen and Victor Klassen. She had a close relationship with her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and loved them all very dearly. She leaves behind many close friends as well, including her longest and dearest friend, Denise.

Everyone who knew her, knew that family was the most important to her. She had the biggest heart and always made sure that everyone was taken care of. She was a breath of fresh air that lit up the room with her smile and could warm your soul with her hugs.  To be around Connie and John together, you knew you were in the presence of true love. They met in 1985, though the exact date is a debate between the two of them, and married a few months later. They were a perfect example of a strong, loving marriage. You’d hardly find the two apart. They would often work all day together installing windows.  In the afternoons, you’d find them side by side, relaxing in the yard, or sharing a weekend shopping trip, which many of us enjoyed sharing with her, too.

Connie was the perfect combination of kindness and patience with a fun-loving spirit and a memorable laugh. If a good rock and roll tune was playing, you’d hear her singing. Sometimes the singing was a bit too early for some as she would sing her good morning song “Good Morning to You” to the tune of “Happy Birthday”. She just wanted to make sure the ones she loved started their day on a happy note, as hers always did. 

Connie left an imprint on so many lives and that is evident in the outpouring of love and support we as a family have received during her time at the hospital and since her passing. The loss of such a selfless, wonderful woman will forever be felt in us all but she would be telling us to stick together and lean on each other.  And we will.

The family will receive friends at Scott St. Mennonite Brethren Church, 339 Scott St., St. Catharines on Friday February 25, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm.  A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday Febraury 26 at 11am with a public interment preceding the service at 9:30am at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery.
