Obituary Alexander Maier

October 24, 1929 to March 17, 2022

On Thursday, March 17, 2022, Alex went to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 92.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Christel Elfriede (Hirsch) Maier.  Cherished father of  Agnes, Melvin, Harold (Cheryl), Harvey (Claudia).  Loving Opa of Lukas, Evan, Amanda, Nathaniel, James, Aidan, Aimee, Kathleen and Elise.  His sisters Mary Maier, Hilda (Ed) Bergstresser as well as many nieces, nephews and sisters and brother-in-laws.   

Alex was born in Reinfeld, Russia and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1947.  On April 2, 1960 he married Christel and they were blessed with four children.  Alex was a hard worker and always willing to help others.  He enjoyed travelling, especially long road trips, gardening and tending his beautiful roses, spending time with family and friends enjoying each moment as God provided.

His funeral will take place on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 605 Vine St.., St. Catharines, ON. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. with service to follow at 2:00 p.m.  Memorial donations can be made to Immanuel Baptist Church for relief efforts in the Ukraine.
