Obituary of Stiny deJong

de Jong, Stiny (nee van der Laan) - After a long and courageous struggle with cancer, the Lord has taken to Himself his beloved child Stiny de Jong on September 16, 2016 at Hotel Dieu Shaver hospital, at the age of 81. I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. (Ps 89). Stiny was predeceased by her dear husband Herman in 2004, after 49 years of marriage. She was a loving mother to seven children and their spouses: Henry (Wendy), Wayne (Marcia), Edwin (Cindy), Gerine, David (Amy), Christina and Paul. She was a devoted grandmother (Oma) to her fifteen grandchildren and their spouses: Michael (Tenielle), Jovita, Laura; Janine (Shawn), Sarah (Lucas), Mark; Amy, Blake; Silas, Justin, Adam; Evan, Sonja; Simon, and Gabriela. She will also be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her brothers and sisters and their spouses, and cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands, and by her faith community at Jubilee Christian Reformed Church and her good friends at Heidelberg Village. Stiny was a dedicated Registered Nurse for 22 years, in Sarnia and St. Catharines, and retired in 1999. Special thanks to all of the numerous medical personnel who cared for her so well for so many years in St. Catharines, Hamilton and Port Colborne. Visitation will take place on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Jubilee Christian Reformed Church, 13 Wilholme Dr., St. Catharines. The memorial service will also be held at Jubilee Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11am.
