Obituary of Gerrit Berend Hultink
On April 19, 2022, our loving God called Gerrit Hultink home at the age of 78. Gerrit passed away peacefully at home, with his wife Cathy by his side. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cathy (nee Vander Veen), son Jason (Tawnia), and daughter Julia (Duane) van Staalduinen. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Tim (Brooke), Taylor (Morgan), Michael (fiancé Kayla), Terin, Emily, Tori, Morgan and Talia, who were Opa's pride and joy.
Gerrit is lovingly remembered by brothers Henk (Lien), John ( Jenny), Bert (Jane), Ben (Rini) as well as sister-in-laws Helen Laanstra, Tina Hookey, Sylvia (Jerry) Wyant, and many nieces and nephews.
Gerrit was born in the Netherlands on February 24,1944. Opa is remembered for his loving, kind, and fun ways! His laughter was contagious and brought so much joy to anyone around him. He was generous and hardworking. The Holy Spirit grew his patience and gentleness through his health struggles and it was amazing to witness that beauty. Through the trials, he was given much grace to handle it with quiet strength and good humour.
Thank you to Rose Hill Lane and the many PSW’s that made it possible for him to stay at home these past years. We also want to thank special friends Paul and Tina and brother John for their countless 'meals on wheels’ and visits.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Word and Deed Ministries.
A private interment for the family will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Jordan. All are welcome to attend the memorial service on Friday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Reformed Church (99 Scott St, St. Catharines, ON L2N 1G8)
