Dad and I FaceTimed every week on our iPads during Covid. It meant a lot for us to continue to talk and see each other. We shared a lot of stories together. He was determined to learn this new technology.
When I was finally able to visit in March I could see that these past two years were difficult for him. He had aged quickly physically but not mentally. He was sharp and witty to the end.
Sadly Dad’s lungs finally gave out and he knew it but he died gracefully anxious to be United with Mom, the love of his life.
Dad taught me a lot growing up, how to fix things yourself. He built a cottage himself. He taught me how to fish for trout. He coached my hockey team. He attended my baseball and football games. He taught me the difference between right and wrong and let me know when I had done both.
But most of all he taught me how to love another person, how to enjoy family and how to help other people.
My Dad was, is and shall forever be my Hero, and I miss him very much.
Dad I still feel your presence every day and I look forward to the day when I will be reunited with you and Mom.
Love always,
Carl

Your dad was such a kind man and I know you’ll miss him. I only had the pleasure of meeting him in the last few years and I enjoyed his wit and humor. Sending love and hugs your way.
