I have many fond memories of Martha. Martha and my mother (Helen Redekop Funk) were great friends until my mother passed away in 2010. They were both born in Reesor the same year, and maintained the friendship after the move to the Niagara area. I loved singing next to Martha in the church choir for many years. Martha translated from German Script to English my mother’s family letters from Russia for the family to appreciate. Martha faithfully visited my mother her last while in Heritage Place. A wonderful lady. My sympathies to Randy, Tom and their families.

Martha mentored me when I took over her role as German Choir Director at NUMC in 2009. She was patient and kind and even in her last months, would email me messages to see how my family was doing, always accompanied by a nice compliment or thought. She holds a special place in my heart and I am deeply saddened by her passing.

To the Family of Dear Martha. I was so sad to hear of Martha’s passing. She was very dear to me and I enjoyed our visits so much. When we both lived on Niagara Stone Rd., she would often walk over to say hi and also drop off something delicious for Terry and myself to enjoy that she had just baked. We both moved to St.Catharines and the visits continued. She met our German shepherd Roxy and shared her stories of the shepherd she once had and how smart they are. She was such a kind and wonderful soul, I will truly miss her.

to Martha's family: your mother was indeed the ultimate survivor and it was my privilege to have known her, although a bit later in her life. She was a fine fine example to me of keeping the faith, staying focused in all of life's challenges, sharing her musical gifts (she sang solo at my husband's funeral) and always ready for a good realistic visit and laugh. Please accept my sincere condolances, with a smile and a tear. Ingrid Regier
