I first met Peter and his good friend Ken Marlatt in thee summer of 1946. The young men were back from serving their country in the war. Peter had been in the army and Ken was in the navy. Ken and I were married in 1947. In spite of the different cities that they called home, the men kept in touch as they each raised a family and built a career. Ken passed away 21 years ago but I was still considered a welcome guest at Joyce and Peter's home in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We enjoyed many a fish and chip supper at their local legion. Both men were strong supporters of any legion in their area. I kept in touch with visits or by phone or letter when Peter moved into Niagara Gardens in St. Catharines. We had so many happy memories to share. He was a dear friend and I will miss him.

Thank you so much Lois for your kinds words - Dad spoke often of you and Ken and your wonderful visits together. In the past few years, he would have me read some of your interesting letters to him. He so valued your friendship. I really hope you can join us for the Memorial Service on June 25th. All the best, David

Remembering my Godfather, Peter, with fond memories. Especially visiting his farm in Beamsville when I was very young and Lynn was just a toddler. Many years later my husband and I met the man, quite by accident, who had purchased Peter's camp. At this point the fellow had sold Peter's camp and bought a small resort at Lake Shebesekong in Muskoka. In 2016 my mother talked Peter into attending the 50th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion #612 and the three of us; my mother, my husband and I all accompanied him for a wonderful evening of remembrance. We will all miss him.

We have many cherished memories of Peter. We have spent time every summer at Muskie Bay Camp with Peter and Joyce and enjoyed visits in Niagara-on-the Lake at their home. They even came to Wisconsin to see us on their way to open the camp one spring. Words can’t express our deep love for the cabin on Muskie Bay that they sold to my son Kevin and my brother Bob. It is our heaven on earth and Peter’s spirit will be with us this summer when we can again, return to Crow Lake. We will always hold him in our hearts.
