Obituary of John William Van Ommen

Van Ommen, John - On Wednesday, May 25^th, 2022, after battling cancer and in his 86^th year, the Lord called home John Van Ommen.

Loving husband to Connie (nee Kalkwiek) for over 61 years and the beloved father of Jean and Paul Dalli, Barry Van Ommen, Jennifer and Calvin Vandersluis, Tony and Krista Van Ommen, David and Marg Van Ommen, Jackie and Mark Selles, and Joyce and Harold Olij. Cherished Grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Dear brother and brother-in-law to Grace + (Marten +) Menken, Alice + (John +) DeGroot, and Betty (Rudy) Kampen.

John was born on October 2, 1936, in Zalk, The Netherlands. In 1954 at the age of 18 with his family, John immigrated to Canada, and they settled in Orangeville. It was here that Dad married Mom and they operated a dairy farm and later a chicken farm. They retired in Vineland Station. Dad had a real love for the Lord and a true love for the church. At first, they were members of the Canadian Reformed Church at Orangeville and later at retirement, of Spring Creek Canadian Reformed Church at Tintern.

We would like to especially thank the wonderful and caring staff of McNally House Hospice for their compassionate care shown to Dad during his stay.

2 Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the LORD, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

Visitation will be held Thursday June 2, 2022, from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm at Spring Creek Canadian Reformed Church, 3981 Spring Creek Rd, (Tintern) Lincoln, Ontario, L0R 2C0.

The funeral will be held Friday June 3, 2022, at 10:30am at Spring Creek Canadian Reformed Church. Rev. Daniel Shin will be officiating. Interment service will follow at Lanes Cemetery. Family would like to invite everyone for reception/lunch.
