Erdman (Ed) Peters
March 26 1942 – December 07 2022
Ed Peters of St. Catharines, Ontario, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on the evening of December 07 2022. Ed was surrounded by the comfort of many family members at the time of his passing at the St. Catharines General Hospital.
Ed was a faithful and devoted husband to his loving wife Helen Peters (nee Rempel) for 37 years. Loving father to his two daughters Kim Eden and Becky (Terry) Whalen. Cherished grandfather to Carly Myers (Lee Austin), Thomas (Cathryn) Myers, Iain Myers, Jordan Whalen and Joshua Whalen (Jennie Griffin). Beloved Great-Grandfather to Olivia Myers, Grace Myers and Baby Bro (Thomas) Myers.
Ed is predeceased by his father Erdman Peters and mother Maria Sawatsky. Ed is lovingly remembered by his six brothers and two sisters Jake (Dora) Peters, Ernie (Faye) Peters, Margareth Kolbl, Peter (late Jean) Peters, Frank Peters, Leonard Peters(Val), Diane (Pete) Friesen, and Wayne (Elaine) Peters.
Ed was blessed to have a huge loving family of nieces, nephews, and extended family for whom he cared deeply.
Ed was a pillar in the St. Catharines bowling community who was passionate and dedicated to his lifelong work at Fairview Lanes Bowling Alley where he was a maintenance technician, pinsetter and ran the pro shop. At 65 Ed retired from Fairview Lanes but his affection for the sport kept him repairing and resurfacing bowling balls for years after retirement.
Ed was a member of the Port Dalhousie Horseshoe League and cherished the time he spent competing with friends at the old Port Hotel.
Ed also had a passion for photography and capturing family moments, cherished memories, and picturesque scenery on film. There was never a family event when Ed was not snapping as many photos as he possibly could.
Ed was a devout follower of Christ and he will always be remembered as a kind-hearted, sweet, generous and loving person. He was a very special man and will be missed and remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and PSWs at St. Catharines General Hospital for their compassionate care during Ed’s final days. We would also like to thank Pastor Shawn Paul for coming to the hospital during Ed’s final hours and praying for him, Helen and his family.
The family will receive friends at Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St. Vineland on Wednesday December 14 from 6-8pm and on Thursday December 15 from 10-11am with funeral service starting at 11am.
