Ed and I came to know each other in Virgil, in the MB church there, and for a short time we were fellow students. He took grade 13 with a several others of us. He was a very good student and I also remember him as a good speaker when he was asked to give a sermon, even though he was still a young man. When Neoma and I married and we came to Virgil so I could teach at Eden, his parents lived just two doors over on Field Road. By that time Ed was away from home, but I would hear about him from time to time. The last time we met was quite recently at the time that we had a death in my family and Ed came to Tallman's to express his sympathies. We had good talk then. I valued the fact that he remained a faithful follower of Christ and hadn't given up his ability to articulate strong convictions. We remained brothers in the faith on essentials.
