Garry, I'm now just reading this and my heart breaks for your loss and yet rejoices that Veronica has now heard those glorious words, well done! I remember her as someone who always had a smile on her face, and warmth in her heart. You were blessed to spend 40 years with her. BTW, both our kids went to Hope College, a Dutch Christian college in Michigan. Dykstra was a very popular name there. I imagine the same can be said of heaven.

I live in Nashville Tennessee and have been blessed to know Veronica and Garry for many years. Today I went online today hoping to check in with Veronica about her health.....She sent many messages and updates over the past year and a half and I've been praying for her journey and battle with cancer. My heart is reeling as I see she is indeed with the Lord. Veronica was one of the most joyous, loving, witty, wonderfully giving women I've ever known. She was adored by Garry, their love story was part of one of my books God Loves Messy People. She thrived on family gatherings and colorful stories about her Dutch heritage. She was a walking smile, an angel God gave this world.
I send my ongoing prayers to her friends and family and Garry as she is surely watching over you all with an eternal perspective.
May all she poured into and all who knew her magnificent life remember the best moments with Veronica.
I will always be grateful to the Lord for her friendship and love.
In Him,
Bonnie Keen

I just learned of my dear BDSS highschool friend Veronica's passing. It seems like just yesterday that we enjoyed many laughs and mischevious pranks together. Her smile was infectious, and she always befriended anyone who crossed paths with her, no matter what their circumstance. Even though I moved to Alberta after college, whenever I visited my family I would drop over to see Veronica at the IDA and she always welcomed me warmly, as if no time had passed.
She will always live on in our hearts and minds.
I count myself fortunate to have known her :)

My most sincere condolences to your family. Veronica was the most lovely person and made the Vineland IDA a much nicer experience because of her great laugh and always remembering my name. I have wondered how her battle with cancer was going and so sad to read of her passing. I’m not surprised to find out she was a follower of our Lord. The joy of the Lord and kindness just came out of her and touched those who entered the IDA’s door. It’s not the same there without her and I wish I had of told her how much I appreciated these qualities. My sympathies, Shelley Wall

Dear Garry and family,
We shortly have met Veronica when we visited Canada a few years ago. She was a great personality. She liked to tease us, because we were speaking English in a very Dutch way.
We deeply regret her passing away. We hope you all will be surrounded by Love.

We are very sorry to hear about the passing of Veronica. My mom and I would go into the I. D. A. And she was always so helpful. And we had some laughs. May she R.I.P. and may her family take comfort to know she is an angel now.

I wanted to express my deepest condolences to your entire family and to you Garry. The joy, devotion and love you had for one another was so evident and had a great impact on my life when I was a teenager living in St. Catharines. I sure loved the store you both owned (Singer and the Song) and spent many hours in your store listening and buying music and quite honestly, LOVED coming to the store to see you both. Veronica always greeted me with her beautiful smile, incredible warmth and laughter. May God's grace, comfort and peace cover you like only He can. May you feel the care, tenderness and presence of God, your Great Shepherd, as He leads, walks and carries you through this valley.
Know that Jason and I, here in Ottawa, are praying for you Garry and the entire family in this very difficult time. You are all so loved.

We extend our deepest, deepest sympathies to Garry and all of Veronica's family. Although she left this world much too early, Veronica will be remembered for her deep faith, huge heart, fantastic organization skills (especially where family events were concerned), memorable sense of humour and beauty on both the inside and out. I will miss our critiques of the latest Hallmark Christmas movie and Bill will miss her thoughtful and funny Gnomie messages and gifts. Veronica ended her life as she lived it....with grace, humour, dignity and peace. There is great comfort in knowing that Veronica is now at rest in the arms of the angels.
