Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 67 years Keith Moyer (2022). She was a loving, caring and generous mother to Rick (Andrea), Brad (Heather) and Scott (Kim) and a much-loved Grandmother to Elisa (Bryce) Nelson, Westley (Liane) Moyer, Katie and Jack Moyer.

Elsie spent her entire life in the community of Vineland. She was the 3rd youngest of 11 children born to Mabel and Albert Eckhardt on Rittenhouse Road. She is survived by her sisters Bev and Peggy of St. Catharines and brother Harold of Brantford.

After her schooling in Vineland, Elsie was employed as a Telephone Operator with Bell Canada. Following that, she worked in the office for Wiltshire Plumbing and Heating. Her greatest joy came from raising and spending time with her three sons which she did full-time until they completed Secondary School. She later returned to work in the local provincial constituency office and in the educational software industry. She retired in 2003 to enjoy more time as a grandparent.

Elsie served on the Parent’s Committee of Vineland Public School for 10 years.  She was a life-long member of Twenty Valley Community Church where she attended with many of her extended family members. She greatly enjoyed the many fine services and held leadership roles there including Sunday School Superintendent, Women’s Ministries Director and the running of the Friendly 55’ers.  She was a talented singer and, along with some of her siblings and in-laws, made two recordings in the 1950’s.

Elsie and Keith moved to the Orchards retirement residence in 2019. They loved their life there and the friends they made. The family would like to thank the incredible team at the Orchards for creating such a welcoming and caring environment. Elsie dearly loved the staff and enjoyed trying to make their days brighter with a smile and joke.

In memory of Elsie, donations can be made to Twenty Valley Public School.
