Obituary of Joseph Roland Letourneau

Joseph Roland Letourneau, 85, of St. Catharines, Ontario passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2023 at Linhaven long-term care home.

Joseph was born in St. Catharines to Roland and Emily (née Jones) Letourneau in 1937. He attended Merritton High School, and later Brock University.

In his early career he worked primarily in sales for various employers, including Standard Brands (now Nabisco Brands), before starting his own businesses. He first operated Joseph’s & Co. selling fine china, giftware, and collectibles. Later, he founded Wood Box Products, manufacturing promotional wood packaging and other branded items.

He had lifelong interests in fine china, cars, woodworking and tools. A constant tinkerer, he became fascinated by computer technology later in life.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years Norma (née Hodgkins) their son Michael (Karen Heisler) Letourneau and granddaughters Laura and Iris whom he loved dearly.

He was predeceased by his first wife Patricia (née Buckley) Andreychuk and survived by their daughter Laurie Letourneau (Frank) and grandsons Kieran (Emily Sellner) and Carter. While his children and grandchildren all share in each others’ lives, Joseph chose not to participate in that sharing.

He is also survived by his sister Glenna (late Joe), brother Clayton (Rose), sisters-in-law Beverly (late George), Lois (late John), Shirley (Jim), Cathy (late Ken), brother-in-law Victor (Nancy) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Gayle (Ron), sister-in-law Ellen (late Bob) and brothers-in-law Ken and John (Christine).

Cremation has already occurred. A memorial reception will be held at Tallman’s Funeral Home Fireside Room (3277 King Street, Vineland) on Saturday, July 29 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The family will hold a private scattering of ashes.

If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association. Joseph’s family are grateful for all the excellent care he received from his various medical practitioners and the whole team at Linhaven.
