Obituary of Paul Bruce William McQueen
McQueen, Paul Bruce William – It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Paul on July 28th, 2023. A beloved husband to Marion for 63 years, father of Jill (Byron) Demoe and James (Katie) McQueen. Grandfather of Melissa (Anthony), Brett (Shelby), Dawson, Davyn, and Maisie. Great-grandfather of Matteo and Aria. Survived by his sister, Judy McQueen Edgar. Uncle of Amy Edgar Allen, Tamara Edgar Heller and Wendy Edgar Hechemy. Predeceased by his parents, William and Mabel McQueen.
Paul was born in St. Catharines and had fond memories of his life on Linden Street. He had a keen interest in aircraft having been an air cadet in his youth. He would later serve in the Canadian Forces Reserves (often referring to it as “the good time army”) with the 44th Field Regiment (artillery). He was a long-time employee of General Motors where he worked for 32 years. Paul spent most of his summers with Marion and children up north fishing and making many lifelong friends along the way. He coached baseball and hockey in Jordan and served as president of the Jordan Lions Figure Skating Club in the 1980’s. In later years he volunteered at Community Support Services of Niagara as a companion visitor and was an avid lawn bowler. He loved to travel with Marion going to Cuba for many years. His passions were big band music and building plastic scale-model aircraft. His sense of humor and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone will be missed.
We would like to extend our gratitude to all of the staff at Vineland United Mennonite Home and the orthopaedic wing of the St. Catharines Site of Niagara Health.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be at Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King Street, Vineland, on Wednesday August 2 from 6 – 8 pm. A memorial service will be Thursday August 3 at 2 pm in the chapel. A reception will follow at the Fireside Room at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
