The first time I came to Canada I stayed at their place for a week. It was 1976.
I was together with a friend (Ria) whom they didn't know, but who was also welcome.
I remember that week as a very pleasent week in the Batenburg family.
Although everybody was very busy in the greenhouse, tante Bep made time to sit and talk Dutch with us, or bring us places.
She had green fingers and I admired her plants (a lot of orchids) in the conservatory.
She stayed at our place in Holland too, travelling with Liz. I remember we laughed a lot.
The last time we saw her was on the 13th of october. She was very fragile, but wanted to get out of bed for her visitors.
We had a good time with her and said goodbye, knowing it would be the last time. She said she wanted to go to heaven and now she gone from the earth, but stays in our hearts!
The picture is from our visit in 2022, stil knitting.
