I was a young music teacher at Greendale School, unsure about choral conducting. Margaret offered to accompany my junior choir as we prepared for the Kiwanis festival. We sang “Sing A Rainbow” and walked away with first prize, beating more experienced choirs. It was a highlight of my career and I owe it to encouragement and support I received from Margaret. I couldn’t believe that someone would be so gracious with their time and give so much support. Thank you Margaret Swallow, I still have the music!
The next part of my story is about meeting Jane and Joe, then Amy and Joe and their families. (My son married into the Orlando/Saracino family). I didn’t realize that Jane was Margaret’s daughter until I read this obituary. Jane,I hope you are smiling as you read this and know that I have alway remembered your mom as one of the finest ladies I have ever met.
Rest in heaven Margaret.

I'll always remember Mrs. Swallow for her warm smile and gracious ways. As a teenager, I was always made to feel welcome at the Swallow home, and later in life, visits with my own children always received a warm welcome. When life threw complications her way, Mrs. Swallow never seemed to get ruffled, always looking at the bright side of life. And when things grew difficult in the last years, she could could always count on the support of her loving family. My heartfelt condolences on your loss, Mrs. Swallow was an awesome lady. Love from Linda Zbinden -Blodgett

Peace at last for Margaret. May God bless her and the remarkable legacy she left us, both in her own accomplishments as well as the branches of her family tree which continue to prosper and bear fruit in keeping with the exceptional qualities outlined in her obituary.
The union that spanned 63 years in life should be good for at least 63 million more in eternity as she goes to be with “dad“ in glory. While I had the pleasure of meeting Margaret on numerous occasions in her later years, the more profound encounter with her came indirectly through a lifetime of friendship – first with Steven and eventually with all of her children. Very quickly, I was made to feel like family, and my life has been profoundly changed by the kids that were shaped so beautifully by this woman and the home which she and John created. I’m especially pleased that Vicky did not miss out on the privilege of being warmly embraced and favoured by Margaret; her warmth and grace still beautifully evident despite her limitations.
Her loss will be palpable but her legacy will far outweigh it. Our prayers are with the entire family at this time.
