Obituary of Arie Eric Stieva

Arie (Eric) Stieva 

February 20, 1939 - December 12, 2023

Peacefully, after a brief hospital stay

the Lord called home our beloved husband, father and grandfather,

Arie (Eric) Stieva

aged 84 years

He will be dearly missed by

Grace

his beloved wife of 60 years, 

his children,

Bryan & Catherine, 

Bernice,

James & Lisa,

and 

his grandchildren,

Madeline, Zachary, Eleanor, Jacob, and Jack

Born in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands, Eric immigrated to Canada with his parents and brothers, in April 1953. Making his home in Beamsville and Grimsby, Eric was known by many in the community through his business Stieva Painting and Decorating and his work at the Beamsville Relay Station.

Eric loved spending time with his family, working in his garden, woodworking, and going on road trips. A quiet, kind man, Eric enjoyed reading and discovering how things worked. He was always willing to lend a hand with fixing or building things; he was the one you called to help you figure it out and to borrow the tool you needed. He also enjoyed the beauty of creation and could often be found sitting on his front step, listening to the birds, admiring his garden and watching the world. Loved ones were always welcome to sit alongside him. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to send special thanks to the ICU medical staff at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated. 

Visitation will take place on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at Vineyard Canadian Reformed Church, 4628 John Street, Beamsville.

Funeral will take place in the church on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11am, following a private family interment.
