Obituary of Jack Bissell
Our loss is Heaven’s gain! Jack (John) Bissell went into the presence of Jesus on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at the age of 84. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Norma of 62 years, his daughters, Barbara Betts (Daryl) and Christine Gay (Jim), his 7 grandchildren, Stephen (Angie), Mitchell, Ashleigh, Lauren (Brendan), Rebecca, Matthew, and Sophie and 5 great-grandchildren, David, Jonathan, Claire, Joshua and Madison. He was predeceased by his parents, Bob & Betty (Elizabeth) Bissell. He is also survived by his younger brother Bob Bissell (Bonnie) and many other family members who will deeply miss “Jack, Uncle Jack, Papa” so much! He had such a zest for life and loved God and his family with his whole heart. He served the Lord faithfully for 55 years and loved to pray while doing his numerous walks. He was so adventurous, trustworthy, generous, selfless, and had a wonderful sense of humour. Jack had an incredible impact on so many lives and was willing to help whenever he could. He had dementia for the past few years of his life and was in long term care for the last 8 months. Our family would like to thank the care workers at Upper Canada Lodge, Pleasant Manor and Home Instead for their care & compassion towards him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society (Niagara Region). We will celebrate his incredible life at Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King St., Vineland) on Saturday, January 6th, 2024. There will be a visitation with the family at 10:00am and the Celebration of Life will start at 11:00, followed by a luncheon in the Fireside room.
