Bob and I were good friends in high school, and for a while after. We had many a fun time, playing pool and chess in my basement, going to the local pub for some draft beer, plahing the odd card game in his basement. We had a lot of fun sneaking a case of beer into his basement through the window. Ping pong was very competitive!
We liked to drive about town, chatting about nothing serious. Even then, at the age of 16 or 17, Bob had a big interest in cars, and motorcycles (much more than me, lol). I remember when he got his first full time job at International Harvester in Hamilton, he was pretty happy.
Even though we drifted apart in the years after Grantham, I remember him fondly and still think about him.
RIP, Bob.

Bob was a good friend of mine whom I’ve known for many years. We had many similar likes and dislikes and as a result, had many spirited conversations on all those subjects.
Bob liked his cars and anything to do with high performance vehicles.
I too am an aficionado of cars and high performance vehicles.
Bob loved all things mechanical and working on stuff as do I and we talked endlessly on our exploits about ripping stuff apart and it didn’t matter whether we knew what we were doing or, (occasionally), not. Didn’t scare us, we’d jump in with both feet no matter what!
“For sure, we had a few screw-ups along the way, but more often than not, we’d get the job done”. Had a lot of fun at times arguing back and forth about how to “fix stuff”, as the saying goes. That said, we definitely learned a lot from one another and we’d have those discussions parked on my front lawn or looking under the hoods of one anothers vehicles, me with my endless cup of coffee on the go and Bob with his bottled water. I thoroughly enjoyed those times and always looked forward to our next visit. We never ran out of things to say to one another, the conversation just flowed that easily.
Bob was a kind and decent human being. I could be myself around him and could discuss everything and anything with him both the good stuff and sometimes, the not so good stuff. If I was going through a rough patch in my life, he’d listen intently and would offer helpful information about how to get through it. We both trusted one another and Bob was always willing to help out in any way he could. I knew that I could count on Bob to make my day that much better and he did so without exception.
Bob left me with many good memories that I’ll be holding onto for the rest of my days.
I couldn’t ask for more than that of a good friend.
Miss you, rest in peace my friend.

Thank you Mike for your heartfelt condolences! It gives me comfort knowing that Bob had such a wonderful friend like you who appreciated the kind and decent soul my brother was! I so appreciate reading about your common interests and that you shared enjoyable times together doing the things you both loved. Your kind words have cheered me at this very sad time and I thank you for that!
So very much appreciated!
