October 3, 1927 to January 13, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eleonore Funk on January 13, 2024 in her 97th year at Tabor Manor Long Term Care, in St Catharines, Ontario.
Dear wife of Hans Funk (passed away November 23, 2020) for 73 years. Mom to Trudy and Gord Lockyer, Laura and Alan Brechin, Hans Peter and Ginette Funk. Oma to Rachel and Steven Vandermeer, James and Tanya Lockyer, Brandon Funk and Paige Coyne, Steven Funk and Lauren Ouimet. Oma to great grandchildren Claire, Avery and Joshua Vandermeer, and Jacob and Sydney Lockyer.
Eleonore was proud to have been a seamstress all her life and worked for many years at Peninsula Upholstering in Virgil, Ontario. Eleonore loved to bake her famous cheesecake and many ethnic cakes and meals for her family. Special times in the summer were enjoyed at their cottage on Leonard Lake.
The family was blessed with many people who cared for Eleonore and supported not only her but her family over the years and during a difficult time. While at Tabor Manor, Eleonore loved the staff as they loved her which was obvious especially once she passed with many shedding tears with us. On that note, the family expresses their appreciation to Dr. Greenway and Dr. Halliday, the RNs, RPNs, PSWs, kitchen and cleaning staff on every shift as well as the Chaplain and Pastor. You know who you are! Thank you we could not have cared for our Mom and Oma without you!
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tallman Funeral Homes:
Visitation: 9:30 am on January 20, 2024 at Niagara United Mennonite Church, 1775 Niagara Stone Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
Funeral Service: 10:00 am following visitation
Interment: Following Funeral Service at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery,
1483 Lakeshore Rd., Niagara-on-the-Lake
Refreshments: After the interment, everyone is welcomed to return to the Niagara United Mennonite Church for refreshments, a light meal and sharing of memories.
