Obituary of Elizabeth Diana Akitt

Elizabeth Diana Akitt (nee Scott)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elizabeth Diana Akitt (nee Scott) on January 27, 2024 at St Peters Hospital in Hamilton at the age of 77.

Beloved wife of 45 years to David Akitt and mother of son Adam and daughters Robin and Eileen. 

Born in Toronto, Elizabeth graduated with a BSC in physics from York University and subsequently taught physics labs at Trent University where she met Dave.  Relocating to St Catharines while Dave did his MSC at Brock University Eliabeth worked as a draftsperson for a land surveying firm.  Upon Dave’s graduation they settled on a 20-acre fruit farm.  As a mother, Elizabeth kept busy tutoring high school students in physics as well as teaching piano.

Elizabeth loved gardening and the outdoors hiking, birding, canoeing, cross country skiing and especially cottaging at the Scott family cottage on Georgian Bay.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 2^nd, 2024 beginning at 11am at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King St., Vineland.)  Service to follow in the chapel at 12pm.  Luncheon to follow the service in the Fireside Room.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
