I'm so sorry to hear of Irene's passing. She was a beautiful lady who always had a lovely smile and a kind word for all who came into the Auxiliary Coffee Shop and the General Store at the Queenston Street St.Catharines General Hospital.
I interviewed her when she first came to inquire about volunteering shortly after her husband died. She said at that time that she wanted to keep busy in her time of sorrow. I told her that she would be kept as busy as she wanted to be and that she would always have a circle of auxiliary friends who were caring and would help her through.
I always remembered that first interview and I will always remember Irene.
Irene became one of our most respected and accomplished leaders in the St.
Catharines General Hospital Auxiliary.
