I was wondering about Andrew the other day, so decided to look for him on facebook and google and was surprised to come across this obituary. Although he passed a couple of years ago now, I am hoping that his Mother and siblings will see this post as I know that the loss of a loved one can hit one at anytime or any place . It is a sorrow that lingers but I am hoping it is less so for you now, and the happy memories are the ones that linger.
Andrew worked for me in Whitehorse Yukon for about a year. After the year, his desire to travel won out and he was off. He did come back and work in Whitehorse for awhile at the local newspaper and helped me out when another employee was off on leave. And he popped in on occasion just to say hello.
I believe that everyone comes into our lives for a reason. And so, Andrew came into mine. He worked as a graphic designer for me. His designs improved the quality of the ads done at our company. But, as time went on, I came to understand that writing was really his first love. We had our challenges along the way as Andrew found it difficult to communicate face to face with clients. At times I wondered if I made the right choice in hiring him but I saw potential. It made me look at myself, my approach and how I could best work with him. I learned to be a more tolerant, patience and understanding person.
I often though of Andrew as the friendly giant, a quiet man with a big heart. I remember one time specifically when he didn't want to do something he committed to. I was upset with him, and spoke to him about it. The next day he came back to the office and apologized. And, he met his commitment. To me, that demonstrated the kind of man he was and confirmed to me that I had made the right choice in hiring him to work for my company. The most valuable asset any company can have is a person that is willing to look at themselves and do their part. He certainly did that. I hope that this fills your hearts with pride!
I will always remember Andrew with fondness. I hope this is a comfort to you. Wanda Leaf

My condolences.
Andrew and I knew each other in university, where we had many long debates with a lot of intensity and laughter. Andrew was one of those people who touched my life profoundly and pushed me to be better. We maintained infrequent and far too minimal contact after university, sometimes with years between chats, but every chat was a breath of fresh air. As of recent, I was attempting to look him up again to see what he was up to and sadly I have come to this. Andrew will be always in my mind and heart and, in part, because of him I will continue to be better.

I smiled when I viewed Andrew’s picture. He looks so like his father. Same smile, same twinkle in his eyes. I hope they are keeping company together. It’s a nice thought to imagine into the infinity of life. God bless.

I am so sorry to hear that Andrew has passed. I met him while travelling in the Yukon many years ago and we had been friends ever since. He was a kind person who will be rembered always as an intelligent self motivated and inquistive world traveller who generously shared his adventures with us through his writing and art. My deepest condolences to his dear family. I am lucky to have had such wonderful friend.
