Obituary of Andrew Alexander Hoshkiw

Andrew Alexander Hoshkiw passed away shortly after surgery in the morning hours of January 18, 2018 at the age of 44 years, 2 months and 11 days. Andrew is survived by his mother, Ruth Hoshkiw and his two sisters, Kathryn and Christine Hoshkiw. He also leaves behind two nephews (Lee and Jadon) and one niece (Hasana). He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Hoshkiw (October 1992). Andrew was born on November 7, 1973 in the city of Niagara Falls where he grew up and attended grade school (Valley Way and Maple Street) and high school (Ridley College and Westlane). As a young child he was forever exploring and taking things apart to see if he could put them back together. He loved the Muppets, Star Wars and poking crabs on the beach in Florida. He was one of the first to embrace new technology and teach himself all he could of the ever evolving world of computers. He was an active football and rugby player in his youth while attending high school. He then attended Brock University completing his degree in Journalism and the arts. He was an active and proud member of the University Newspaper, the Brock Press while pursuing his studies and many may remember more than one of his jokes or antics. Andrew had two loves in life and those were photography and travel. Both tied into his deep need to find his true purpose and place in this world. He had finally found his place and was returning home when the same heart that had healed emotionally was failing him physically.

A communion funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, May the 6th at 1:00pm in Bala, Ontario at the Trinity All Saints Anglican Church with the Reverend Dr. David Hardie officiating the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Andrew’s life. A small reception for will follow in the church hall after the service. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
