My heart still aches for your loss. It was such a pleasure to know Patrick as well as get to know you all. He reminded me so much of my own Dad, and shared so many similar passions (travel, motorcycles, music, God) that it was easy to feel connected. The morning of his funeral, I was praying for all of you. I was asking for peace, strength, and comfort. It was then that I had a clear image of Patrick standing on the grassy bank of a beautiful and wide flowing river. It was so beautiful, that it nearly glistened like millions of diamonds. The bank was peaceful, gentle winds blew through the green, lush grass and through the leaves on the trees around him. He had his arms casually crossed over his chest and a wide stance. He was smiling the sort of smile you'd see when someone had accomplished a truly miraculous feat. He was content, healthy, and happy. I didn't share this image with any of you during his viewing as it was a tough time, but I wanted to share it now. It was a revelation to hear that he loved to go fishing, and sit by or on the water. It was his peaceful place. It made much more sense to me after hearing his friends words during the service and confirmed that I know that he's in a place where that image is possible.
Remain strong Fortneys, VanDyks, and Fortins. Let each other be a source of strength when you need it, and call on God when you need peace, He will give it freely.
God bless.

Patrick will always have a special place in our hearts. He will always be remembered and loved. We will miss his great personality and just how he embraced life with such joy. We will miss his wonderful stories that he shared but they will live on in all of us. Patrick sure loved his family, he was so proud of you all. He definitely was a very proud Grandpa too, he would just glow with pride when he would talk about them. Knowing Patrick was a honor, he wasn't just a great friend, he was family too. Rest in Peace Patrick we will never forget you! With all of our love and true heart felt condolences Harold & Velvet Quirt & Family

Hello, I am an old friend of Pat (Albert) from my days in Western Hill. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Albert was a truly lovely person who was such a good friend to me. I have wonderful memories of the times when we hung out in St Catharines, the many amazing concerts we went to....he loved music and the music was always at the forefront of all the things we enjoyed. I play piano today (altho not that well!) because of his encouragement when I started.
Just yesterday, I booked tickets to see Ry Cooder and friends play at Massey Hall in April...and I had told the person I'm going with that it had been a long time since I saw Ry play...in fact it was at two concerts, one at Toronto's Riverboat and another at University of Toronto's Convocation Hall...I was proud to say I was at these concerts, and now I've just realized that I had gone to them with Albert who was dazzled by Ry...Albert sang just like him I remember. So, this April, when I'm watching Ry play, I will think of Albert and honour his memory. My sincere condolences to all of Albert's family. John.

I just ran into this sad news about Pat. Its much too young. We had lots of good times together, skiing in the 70's, and so many concerts. Johnny Winters at Maple Leaf Gardens was a highlight.
He would load us up in that beautiful Vista-cruise wagon and we would go everywhere. Mulligan's Brick bar was a favourite spot.
He was very kind and a gentleman. Pat played that lovely Telecaster so well.
He is missed by many I'm sure.
