we have just heard about Peter's passing and are so very saddened. I so enjoyed talking with him on my daily walks...I always felt uplifted by his kindness and knowledge. A humble man who we will miss greatly. I will remember him riding his bikes (motorcycle and bicycle) in the neighbourhood. May God bless you all.

To the Martens Family,
A warm hug to every member of your family as we share your great loss. We are very grateful for the kindness shown by Peter and St. Catharines Building Supplies in giving me work when I was laid off for 2 years in the early 1980's. Peter always treated us with kindness and respect in his quiet ways.

Dear Johanna:
Just today I heard of Peter's home going. You shall have my prayer support for the adjustments that are ahead. May the Saviour give you the assurance of His grace and rest. I recall the times that Dorothy and I had with you both. Kindest of blessings to you and your family. Personally, I have been house-bound since the first of the year. Sorry to have missed the service of remembrance.

Many memories come to mind about Mr Martens. First - I applied for a job at St Catharines Building Supplies, sadly I did not get the job, Mr Martens said there were better things for me out there.
Second - Mr Martens bravely accepted to be my subject for a straight razor shave and haircut so I could get my hairdressing licence.
My sincere condolences to the whole family, your are all in our thoughts and prayers.
He will be greatly missed.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Johanna and extended family. We will miss Peter deeply. I cannot remember any time that Peter was not smiling. I will treasure many memories of singing with Peter. It was always a pleasure and joy singing with him as I would see him get excited about the lyrics and timing of many songs…..it had a contagious effect on me resulting to deeper understanding and appreciation of Christian music.
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.” Psalm 98:4 (KJV).
“I can only imagine” that Peter is singing with angels now. We love you, Peter. We miss you. Until we meet again…..

How we enjoyed listening to Peter singing, "I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God; I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His blood!...."
Peter lived those words and is now truly living them, praising the Saviour who shed that cleansing blood.
We sorrow with you, Johanna, and the Martens family but not as those "who have no hope."

So very saddened to hear the news of Peter's passing. He and Sam Balint were so good with all of the kids that went through our doors during the 12 years we attended St. Ann's. Peter had so much patience, especially with the children who displayed serious behavioural issues. He was a big part of making St. Ann's a special place to attend and remember for our whole family not just the foster kids. His kindness and support will not be forgotten.
It is never easy to say, "goodbye until we meet again". We are sending much love and prayers your way. May your family know the "peace that passes understanding" through this painful time. Love, Lily, Bob, Jordan and Hayley.

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
What a comfort to know Peter is with our Heavenly Father, and is re-united with many who have gone before him.
He was an example of living out his faith, in everything he did.
Love to you all,
