As I read Erwin's obituary today I was profoundly aware that he is gone too soon. Since his Parkinson's diagnosis 17 years ago he had many reasons to be bitter about his situation and feel sorry for himself, yet I had never seen him express those emotions and feelings about his situation. He always expressed an attitude of "this is the hand I was dealt and what makes me special to not get this disease." I believe it is this attitude that allowed him to embrace life to the best of his ability. When I visited Erwin and his family in London on Tuesday night, I heard how he was still cutting lawn at the farm he used to manage.
To Erwin's family .... this week I was thinking about the laughs we used to have at family gatherings when we heard stories of your family camping experiences. Treasure those memories.
