Obituary of Walter Dietrich Regier

Regier, Walter - It is with sadness we announce the passing of Walter on Monday November 25, 2019. He was born May 2, 1953 and died of a stroke in his sleep at home on his terms.  Walter lived with schizophrenia for most of his adult life.  Those who helped take care of him appreciated that with all of the challenges this mental illness comes with, he never lost his sense of humour or his ability to engage in interesting conversations.  Thank you to all of his case workers and support staff throughout the years, especially Gateway Residential & Support Services who became his family and provided him with great care, as well as, a safe haven to call home for the last 20 plus years. He is predeceased by his father Dietrich Regier, who was a strong advocate for him. He is survived by his mother, Kaethe Regier, and his sister & family, Monica Briscall.

A celebration of life will be held in the New Year. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario.
