Our condolences to Agatha and family on your loss! May you experience God's comfort and peace!
Bill was my last remaining brother. Under his sometimes crusty exterior was a soft and generous heart! He showed love, not so much with words, but with practical deeds of kindness.
After I had worked all through a Saturday night ( with a bad flu) to bail out a flooding basement in our newly built country home, whom could I call early Sunday morning to bring pumps and hoses to pump the rapidly melting snow away from our patio door and over our driveway?...brother Bill, of course! He did not show up in church that Sunday, BUT became the CHURCH to me in my need!
When I needed help cutting down a huge willow tree, so it would not fall into our pool or destroy the neighbour's hedge, whom could I call to come help?...brother Bill, of course!
...or to help us move
...or to help build my fence around the back yard?...brother Bill, of course!
Bill WORKED HARD to meet the needs of his family, often working multiple jobs.
After immigrating here in 1956, not knowing the language, it was no mean feat to find a decent permanent job. ....so, he offered Port Weller Dry Docks, that if they gave him a chance, he would work without pay for a week, while they assessed him. He was hired and worked there for many years. He soon operated their new laser guided major steel cutting machine, and later served as foreman.
Bill faced many CHALLENGES head on!... learning a new language and learning to function in a new culture....building his house, mostly by himself with some consultation with experts...raising a large family...etc. He was courageous and strong!
I will miss my brother, but am thankful that his suffering is over.
Bill, rest in PEACE .... and in God's eternal LOVE and all encompassing GRACE!

Aggie and family - May the God of all comfort be very near these difficult grieving days.
Yesterday I tried to write memories, but I missed something and it didn't go.
My last memory of Willie is that of our last Klassen cousin reunion a few years ago.
We were going around the circle sharing something. When it was Willie's turn, he stood up, gave his name, and started sitting down. Hilda was leading and she jumped in: "Not so fast, Willie. We want to know something about your life."
That did it. He took off and kept going all through his tumultuous life. We were taking it all in, hearing stories probably none of us had ever dreamed of. Fascinating!
Praying for you,
Mary Derksen, Abbotsford, BC (Klassen)
