Sad to hear of Don’s passing! We played a lot of baseball together in Beamsville and he certainly was our star pitcher who took us to 4 provincial championships. The last one was as Jr A champs against Barrie, Ontario. I also played a little basketball in high school with him and again he was one of the best. Lost touch with Don after high school but have often thought of him over the years as a good athlete but more importantly as a good, honest person. RIP.
Respectfully, Scott Konkle

Kris, Jacqui and families,
I was saddened to hear of your Dad’s passing.
I am your Mom’s cousin and I had the pleasure of spending time and getting to know your Dad at family functions. I have fond memories of the family picnic that you along with your parents hosted at your home. We always enjoyed the yummy Clark family peaches that were always so juicy and sweet. Your Dad was a quiet by nature, a very kind person, a gentleman. May the sharing of your good memories bring you a little comfort at this most difficult time. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

I was a little younger than Don but we both grew up in Lincoln. Don in Beamsville and I in Vineland. We both were raised on fruit farms and eventually took over our family farms. I lived across from the tennis club where I connected with Don back in 2006 when he became part of our winter Wednesday tennis get-together. Back in those early days (1970's) I was a junior member at the then called Victoria Tennis Club. I remember a white-haired jovial gentleman and a very perky lady who was his wife. Both were exceptional tennis players, this couple was Mr. and Mrs. Harold Clark, Don's parents. Don took on many of his dad's qualities. He was a great athlete, he was a soft spoken but deep thinking man and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Both of us coming from the same backgrounds we hit it off immediately and I always relished the chance to play with Don. The world lost a true humanitarian and I lost a special acquaintance that I will always treasure. My sincere condolences to his family.Dean High

I knew Don from the Grimsby Tennis Club. He was always a gentleman with line calls and loved the game. He loved irises and one day arrived for Early Riser's tennis with iris bulbs to give us. It was a surprise. He wanted to share their beauty with us and Christine and I enjoyed them in our front yard garden for many years. Passers by enjoyed them also. Don, by this simple, thoughtful act of kindness made our little piece of the world more beautiful.

We were very saddened to hear about the passing of Don. Richard knew Don from high school days and then was reacquainted many years later playing tennis on Wednesday nights at the vineland tennis bubble. I met Don for the first time playing in that same league. Richard had nothing but praise for Don for both his athletic prowess and also discussed his respect for Don as a person . I soon learned about both attributes. We will miss Don’s playful “ smirk” and how much we enjoyed being on both sides of the net playing tennis with him but preferred the same side for obvious reasons. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and his many friends.
