For nearly my whole life Dutchie and Any were part of our camp family at Pleasant Bay. My parents (Grant and Lorna Lewis) knew him well. Even up to 2 summers ago he was visiting camp and enjoying a BBQ on the beach.
He will be sadly missed but his memory will be a blessing to us all at PBC. A life well-lived.

Dear Amy and family
Our deepest condolences with the loss of Marinus. Sitting in the row in front of you in church weekly, we could exchange greetings. He gave me encouragement, by attending weekly even when his health was deteriorating. We all need God and fellow believers in our lives to give us strength and courage.
may this verse give you strength in the days ahead:
Deuteronomy 31:6- Be strong and courageous.Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
May Marinus rest in peace.

My condolences to the family. As an elder at Mountainview, I visited Marinus and Amy in their Beamsville home or over the phone many times, and always enjoyed my time with them. I will miss Marinus' cheerful and matter of fact outlook on life as well as his steadfast faith and trust in God. Marinus clearly loved Amy, his children and grandchildren very much and I was so impressed by how well the family assisted Marinus and Amy with any need they had. May God comfort you in this time.

Dear Amy and the whole Uitbeyerse Clan:
It was a delight to get to know Marinus. He was a giving, soft-hearted guy who loved to pretend he was gruff and crusty. He couldn't keep that act up very long and would always break into a smile and have a laugh.
Being part of a church community is a big blessing in many ways, but one way is surely this: where else would your path cross with folks that are different from you, yet with whom you have so much in common?
Seeing Marinus (and Amy!) so regularly at church was a real blessing indeed. God bless you in these days of sorrow and remembrance.

Marinus, better known to all the camp as Ditchie, and what a friend to all he truly was. I first met Dutchie where he pierced the water pipe and I used to tell him once in awhile he was drilling for oil. As we go through life we sometimes we meet someone who without really trying to impress you with their kindness, their willingness to share, their generosity of spirit and the ability to make you feel better, such a man was Dutchie. How often he and Amy would come to our trailer in the evening to play cards, a game called phase ten and the evenings were spent in just talking and laughing and of course enjoying Amy’s baking. My family will truly miss Dutchie but we know he who is Mighty will take.care of him until we meet again. To Amy.and family we send our deepest sympathy but though this most difficult time you have your wonderful memories of a man who surely was one in a million.

Dear Amy, Irene, Willie and family,
We know this weekend and the days ahead will be filled with tears of sorrow but also smiles and laughter as warm memories and stories of life with your dad and husband keep bubbling to the surface. You honoured your father well by being so involved in his life especially during his time of illness. We will join you virtually Monday as you celebrate his life.
Sincere sympathy from Linda & Jim

So many memories and stories. We first met Dutchie in 1984 when he showed up at camp and set up on the site near the old pump house. He drove large stakes in the ground to hold down the tenting, one which made its way through a water line, but did not make its appearance known until he prepared to leave and pulled the stake out. You know the rest of the story. We became friends and during my tenure managing the camp Dutchie was my right hand man, always there to lend a hand or supplying some needed part from his stock pile. Every year he would arrive with more donations of wire, screws, nuts and bolts, etc. , much of which are still in the drive shed. I nicknamed him the Flying Dutchman as he was always speeding in and out of camp.Lol We enjoyed lots of bantering and teasing over the years and one thing is for sure , his heart was in the right place. Our families became close through the camp and we send our thoughts and prayers to Amy and the entire family. I pray that one day we will meet again, you bring the screws Dutchie and I will bring the drill. Doug and Toni

I didn't spend a lot of time with "Dutchie" but he is someone that I will remember for the rest of my life. He had a "great presence" when he was around. I will particularly remember his sense of humour, love of flowers/plants and his generosity. He will surely be missed. The next time I will see you Sir is when we are together in the presence of the Lord, worshiping him for an eternity.

Our family grew to know and love "Dutchie" at Pleasant Bay Family Camp.
He was always first to greet us as we arrived Friday nights after a 4hr drive to camp.
Dutchie even helped us unload the cargo from the family van and made sure we had what we needed. Always involved at chapel services handing out hymn books.
One lighter moment was when Dutchie had 8 cords plugged into a 2 socket 120vlt outlet at a post outside the trailer. The 4th of July would be a good description.
Our sympathies go out to Amy and the family. Thank you Wilma for bringing your dad and mom to camp.It was great to be with them again. May God grant you His Peace and Comfort in the days ahead.
