I remember Helen as a beautiful lady. She often talked with teen girls at church.when I left Jordan station school, Helen took my place as a grade 4teacher. We both married Peter Durksen’s, and we thought that was pretty special. May she rest in the arms of Jesus.

To our class, to every class that came before, and to every class that came after, she said “This has been my favourite Grade 4 class”. We all believed her, and what’s better is she believed it too. She was a wonderful person who touched thousands of lives. Go with God Mrs. Dirksen. Take your rest in his arms.

I mentioned Mrs. Dirksen yesterday to my grandson. My love of reading is a direct result of her story time. She also made me eat my sandwiches before the cookies at lunch. Thanks for sharing your Mom with so many other children. Susan (McKee) Selst

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Dirksen's passing. Beyond being my Gr. 4 teacher, she was also a neighbour in Jordan Station. Mom and I would often see Mr. & Mrs. D in Sheila's Diner at lunch. Not sure she remembered me but she definitely remembered mom.

Heartfelt condolences to the children, grandchildren and indeed ma the entire extended family of Helen Dirksen. She did well. May you each experience the loving arms of Jesus surrounding you as you have said your final "Good-byes" , as you mourn your loss, yet rejoice in the fact that she was able to go home to be with Jesus; and as you celebrate her life and the memories you each hold dear.
May you sense God's presence and His peace as you adjust to this loss.

We knew Peter and Helen from our years of teaching. We bought our first car from Peter...he was such a great person and very kind. We spent many years teaching alongside Helen. She was a great inspiration to a new teacher just starting out. She was very helpful and encouraging. She had a great love for her students and they returned that love back. She always had a smile and was so cheerful and optimistic.
She was so proud of her family and their achievements. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Our sincere condolences to her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Yes we knew Peter and Helen as well , so well , especially when peter was a car salesman . He was one of the most gentle polite courteous sales people I have ever met and when I complimented him on his beautiful qualities of doing business , he would say to me ," OH Ben , you can blame my wife Helen for that" . WE (Erna and I ) too wish you as family much comfort and peace and blessing at this time

Hank and I (Dorothy)Unrau knew Peter and Helen when we attended Vineland Mennonite Church many years ago and also were reacquainted when we moved back here to Heritage Village where they resided as well. I was also in the Sunday School class with Marilyn and Judy in our teen years and got to know Barb recently while attending the same church.
We pray that God’s loving presence will bring you comfort at this time.

Dear Dirksen Family
Your Mom, Grand & Great... has been greeted by the angels.... in the arms of Jesus....and reunited with her love and family ❤
I have so many fond memories of her (and your Dad) over the many decades....she was like a second "Mom" to me.
....and oh, all that delicious German food !
....I still have a handwritten borscht recipe on 2 little pieces of paper....from your Dad
It's been many years since we've seen them at Swiss Chalet.....every Sunday...lol
...or enjoying a meal with them at our local diner and hearing about aaalll of the family members...whether we wanted to or not...haha
We may not have been able to see her for many years, but she'll always have a place in both of our hearts
Our heartfelt condolences to all of you
If it wasn't for Covid, you would all be getting big hugs❤
Love,
Veronica & Garry

Most sincere condolences are extended to the entire Dirksen family. Mrs.Dirksen was my Grade 4 teacher at Jordan Public School and, sure enough ... just as her obituary states, she read us fabulous books that are memorable to this day. She was tough but had great empathy... prefect for kids at 10 years old! She will be missed by an entire generation of students including me!
