Obituary of Helen Dirksen
Helen Dirksen
1922 - 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Helen Dirksen, age 98, in the early morning hours of February 9th. But we rejoice that she is safely home with her Lord and Saviour and is now reunited with her dear husband Peter who predeceased her in February 2020.
Our parents made life exciting and fun for our large family. We all felt loved and supported no matter what path we chose to follow in our lives. Even while teaching and with a limited budget mom found the time to sew many of our clothes and we were always proud to wear her creations.
Mom was a beloved teacher who is remembered by many students for her love of reading chapter books after lunch and always stopping at the most exciting part leaving them begging for more!
She will be greatly missed by her loving children Judy and Kenn Kraeker, Wendy and Jim Thiessen, Larry and Betty Dirksen, Bev Koop, Barb and Don Fast, Suzanne and Les Schuender, fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, and her youngest sister Hilda Schellenberg.
She was predeceased by Peter, eldest daughter Marilyn Koop and husband Wayne Etherington, grandsons Bradley Kraeker and Steven Dirksen, great grandson Ryker VanZanten, her parents Frank and Agatha Siebert and siblings Tina, Jim, and Elsie.
Our family is so thankful for the loving care our mom received during the last year of her life from the wonderful caregivers at the United Mennonite Home in Vineland. During these difficult times due to the Corona virus lockdown, they became the family that we couldn't be, and we will be forever grateful. Donations may be made in our mom's memory to the United Mennonite Home.
A memorial service will be live streamed on Friday, February 12 at 10 am. To view the live stream please follow this link on Friday, February 12 at 10am. Tallman Funeral Homes Facebook Page
