I have just learned about Justine's passing and as I had just seen her a few weeks ago, her passing came as a complete surprise. She was always so pleasant and I remember the first day that we met more than thirty years ago. I personally will miss seeing her at all the garage sales that we used to frequent before Covid. To all the DeTullio family, condolences from Andy and myself. Barbara and Andy Furlanetto

Dear DeTullio family, please accept our condolences on the death of this sweet, kind lady. I met Justine when I was 14 and she was 13. Her family had a property on the outskirts of Markham, ON. Her parents wanted a swimming pool, they planted an acre of raspberry plants. The following two summers my sisters, Liz and Lucy, and I were invited to pick raspberries. The proceeds were used to built the pool. During the picking time we stayed with the Christmas family and slept (all six of us) in a loft over the garage. I fondly remember this time. Unfortunately we each went our own way after we were both married but through her Dad and her sister Titia we were kept up to date. I believe that one of Aldo and Justine’s sons was named after my father Adrian. Wishes of comfort and peace from Anne and Ron Bailey

My mom died a week ago yesterday and I so often this week thought of picking up the phone and calling the house to talk to her. Like she never left. Time isn't real somehow and not a moment has passed I don't feel like she is really gone. The grief is like an aftershock of love. I don't mind the throbbing in my chest after a good cry as it reminds me that I am still alive. My mom wasn't the least bit afraid of dying. She was able to see so far out into what I cannot at times. So many of the things she said to me over the years of her life are locked into my heart. Some of her words are tied around my bones it seems. I can feel them there and still hear her voice. I don't want to forget it though! We shared moments of clarity together and some of anger at times (mostly on my part). She would Cheer me on and lift me up! I will miss you mom and hope one day in the future I can say "Hey there you are mom...boy did I miss you!" My mother left me with a lifetime of words. She loved to read and loved her metaphors... "Like coals to New Castle" and "Six one, half a dozen of the other..."...LOL. Don't ever think for a second that the things you say to people, don't linger and last, because they do. Make them good ones and fair ones and encouraging ones. She never knocked me down. My mother never lost faith in me or her children, and somehow always stayed neutral to keep peace but would listen and give wise advice. She never stopped showing me how proud of me she was and her grandchildren! I am the way I am because of her. My mother gave me that gift! You were there for our first breath mom and we were all there for your last breath to send you off! Love you mom! Anna, Jim, John and Connor XOXO

When i was born, my loving sisters justine caroline and Titia all cradled and held Baby me in their arms. Less than 8 years later, justine handed swaddling Louis into my nervous loving arms. Soon after on the farm, Louis john anna linda ada adrien and i would play hide and seek, tag, piggy backs. Laughing till we fell over while justine prepared a loving table for us. Such was the orbit around justine
Over the last couple of weeks the adult versions of us all shared our pains and consolations with eachother. Such was our new orbit without her, still love sharing and giving.
Kids, your mom taught us well. Now its our turn to spread her loving and caring ways. Looking at you now, She is so very proud of you. Thank you Justine
