I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Melanie. I worked with Dr. Rizun for many years and had met Melanie manyl times when she popped into the office. I was very sadden to hear this, and would like to offer my sincere condolence's to Dr. Rizun and their daughter. Melanie was a sweet woman and I always remember the story of Dr. Rizun telling me how he proposed to her (well how she opened up all the notes beforehand because she was too excited!) I am now working back in Optometry but have moved out of area so I am always grateful for the experience I had while working there. I just realized I posted with my married name, but my maiden name is Amanda Liddiard

Dear Rick, Kiera, family and friends,
My heart goes out to all of you. Mel was an amazing woman and she will always be remembered as a caring, thoughtful soul, who was full of life. I had the pleasure of knowing her during an LTO I had at William Hamilton Merritt but our paths crossed a few times after that. She was always so easy to reconnect with and genuinely cared about how things were going. She loved you all so much and talked about you often. I know she is watching down on you all. May she Rest In Peace. You will always be remembered Mel ❤️.

I had the pleasure of knowing Melanie from when I often supplied at Meadowvale, where she was so trusting and encouraging in my earlier years with the board. Then I enjoyed connecting with Kiera, when I supplied at SG in Beamsville. My heart goes out to Kiera and her family in this time of loss. I will always remember Mel and her positive influence on my life. May she rest in peace.

Dear Rick, Kiera, and the Prosser and Rizun families:
Sending my love and prayers to you during this difficult time. Melanie was such a dear friend to me, and I will always treasure our times together in high school, our trip to Florida, as bridesmaids in each other’s weddings, and then visits when I came back to Ontario. Melanie always thought of ways to do kind and considerate things for others. Our friendship began in Grade 9 when she took me under her wing after my back surgery, offering to share her locker and carry my books for me. Her work ethic and attitude to school deeply influenced me and had a part in where I am today. A few weeks ago we were reminiscing through messages on Facebook messenger about the 80s music we listened and danced to with our awkward moves. Then the messages stopped. I had no idea how ill she actually was, and cannot believe she is gone. If I had known, I would have told her how amazing she was, and how I deeply valued our friendship over the years. I know that would have embarrassed her because she didn’t like mushy sentiment. I will miss her very much. May your memories of her and the deep love she had for you comfort you.
Love Lisa (York) Fong

She touched many lives that will be better for having known her. She will be missed. Sympathies to Rick and Kiera. I loved listening to Mel tell caring stories about her family. She will live on in your memories.

Sending our most sincere condolences to Rick, Kiera, and the whole family.
I had the pleasure of teaching, coaching, playing, learning, and working with Melanie over the last 15+ years. From play-days to trivia nights, Mel was always a fun loving part of every event!
Not only was she a gifted and dedicated teacher, she was a wonderful person who brought out the best in those around her with her positive spirit and caring ways. She touched so many lives and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of Melanie Prosser. She was, by far, one of my favourite school teachers of whom I have many fond memories learning from. She had a way with her students that not only engaged them, but made them feel included and wanting to learn more from her despite what background or learning style they had. I'm so very sorry to hear of her passing and I wish all her family and friends the best at this difficult time. Thank you for everything, Melanie. You were one of a kind.

The Dowhun family would like to share our sincere condolences. Melanie was not only Sarah’s teacher at Park but in an odd turn of events became Sarah’s student in dance. Melanie was always held in the highest regard and whether it was bumping in to her and Kiera at No Frills or seeing her in the crowd at a TiCats game Melanie always had a big smile and a warm word. Her light will continue to shine for those she loved and all that remember her.

I was a student of hers at Park school nearly 18 years ago. I still remember her singing the popular kid song on the radio “I’m just a kid” by simple plan. She always encouraged me about science, as I was a terrible science student. Most teachers might make you feel inadequate or dumb, but she told me she wasn’t the best at science as a young kid and eventually grew to understand it very well. It deeply encouraged me in my academics because she boosted my confidence. I also remember going to camp cave springs with her. She knew how to have a good time and was always laughing. She was an amazing role model and I’m going to miss her. My most sincere condolences to her loved ones, I’ll be keeping you in my prayers. ♥️
