It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Pachereva, dear husband, father, Grampy, Pa, brother and friend to many. John Sr passed away peacefully at McNally House Hospice, with his family by his side, on Sunday July 25, 2021.

He had battled the ravages of Parkinson’s for 15 years.

John was the beloved husband of Teresa (Latcham) and super dad of JD (Melanie), Bill, Janet, Nancy (John Nenadovich), Terri (Joe Della Manna). Adored grandfather of 8 – Preston (Jenna) Nenadovich, Karling (Jesse) Hicks, Auxanna Nenadovich (Zach Thalen) Alec (Olivia) Pachereva, Blair Pachereva, Michaela & Rachael Pachereva and Sophie Della Manna. John along with his brother-in-law Delbert and family owned and operated Jodel Supermarkets Ltd and began on King Street in Beamsville with their first store in 1952. They quickly outgrew this location and opened Hillview IGA in 1958. This was followed by stores in Fort Erie, Grimsby, Thorold and Smithville. He always greeted his customers with a smile and they along with staff were treated like family. He was truly the “I” in IGA.

He loved flying, fishing, lawn bowling, gardening, working on the farm and attending his grandchildren’s games, dance recitals and equestrian events and enjoyed the occasional ice cream cone on the way home. He along with Teresa were recognized as one of the top 50 citizens of Lincoln for their contributions over the years to the community.

John and his family thank Dr David Habing and Dr Barbara Connolly for their care and kindness. A heartfelt thanks to the PSW’s that assisted with home care; Karen, Narinder, Cindy & Steve along with nurse Melissa from Paramed. They also appreciated all the compassion and care of Dr Denise Marshall and the staff at McNally House Hospice.
