Obituary of Carl White

It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Joseph White on January 5^th 2022 at the age of 91 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.  Carl was happily married to the love of his life the late Mildred White for 63 years.  Together they raised two exceptional daughters, Karen Carey (Drew) and Jo-Anne Mackenzie (Doug). He was a beloved Papa to Amanda (Jeffrey), Alex (Trish), Wesley (Jennifer), Adam (Chelsea), Megan (Austin) and Carly (Justin).  He will be fondly remembered by his brothers Merrill, Darrell  and sister Roberta also by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Carl was born in Joggins Nova Scotia to a large Acadian family and relocated to River Hebert Nova Scotia in 1943 where the family farm home still sits.  In the early 1950s Carl started his first of many sales positions selling cars in Amherst Nova Scotia with a lifetime friend Junior Wilson.  From Amherst he followed family to St. Catherine’s Ontario here he found work in door to door sales of floor polishers  followed by selling bread for Canada Bread and quickly moving up to management with the company.  Fate brought Carl and Mildred together, introduced by mutual family and married in 1958. 

Carl, Mildred and their daughters were transferred around Ontario as he climbed the ladder with Canada Bread to provide a good life for their family.  In 1974 the family settled in Burlington when Carl was hired by the local Royal Oak Dairy where with his incredible work ethic & charisma he rose to be President of the Dairy and later became Vice President Of John A Labatt.

The family traveled back home to New Brunswick every summer to their childhood homes to be with family and friends enjoying clam digging, lobster boils and Parlee beach.  With grandchildren in tow they enjoyed many summers at Uncle Darrell and Uncle Ralphs hunting camps on the Bay of Fundy where at a very young age were taught to drive 4 wheelers, shoot rifles,  follow the tide out, roll in the red ocean bottom and enjoy nightly camp fires on the beach.  Carl enjoyed fishing and teaching his children and grand children to fish, he enjoyed many fishing trips with his cousin Weldon White whose motto was "the main thing is don’t panic", and brother in law Stanley Burke.

Carl was always known for having the best car on the market, from his 1953 Meteor that brought him to Ontario to the Toyota Highlander that could park itself, Carl always rode in style!  Of the many cars that he had the pleasure of driving no car could ever match his prized '89 Lincoln.  Carl will be forever remembered for the love and pride of family, his great sense of humor, long stories that no one could interrupt, his kindness and his unmatched work ethic.

The interment of his ashes at Victoria Lawn Cemetery and a celebration of life will be at a later date.  For those who wish Carl would be honored if donations were made to the Toronto Ronald McDonald House, where he was a proud volunteer for many years.
