Dear Linda and all the Wichert family,
My condolences on the home-going of your beloved husband, father, and grandfather. George was an icon of Eden Christian College, a respected man whose distinctive voice spoke kindly to all whom he met but could also keep a class of unruly teenagers firmly on task.
In later years, when he invited me to drop the Mr and call him by his first name, his role as a teacher expanded and I viewed him more as a family man who loved talking about his children and grandchildren.
He was a positive influence on the many lives that he touched. May you find comfort in the promises of our Lord and in memories of a life well lived.

Mr. Wichert was my Grade 10 math teacher. I can recall him being firm, but fair, kind and patient. He had a dry sense of humour as well. Many fond memories of my time at Eden and the influence he had in my life during those years. My deepest sympathies to the family.

George was a treasured friend and significant mentor for me. His mentoring was achieved by his personal example as a highschool principal who cared greatly for the success of students and the effectiveness of staff in their personal and professional engagements with students at Eden Christian College / Eden High school. He was not the boss, but, rather, the steady encourager. Also, for George, the church was not an institution to lead, but, rather the body of Christ to serve and nurture toward the likeness of Christ. He was focused, but gental and respectful. He was a compassionate leader and self-giver.
I am saddened by our loss, but I celebrate his eternal joy in the presence of his eternal Father in heaven.

Sending our sincere condolences to Linda, Nancy, Tim, Geoffrey and Suzanne. Arnold has good memories of George as his high school principle and even planting tress on their Line 1 farm for an Eden fundraiser. In later years my path would cross with George and Linda at Pleasant Manor, either outside as they went for a walk or inside at Heritage Place (Marlene). Remembering a very kind and gentle man.

Sending condolences to the entire Wichert family on the passing of your husband, father and grandfather. Not only was George my relative but my teacher at Eden Christian College. I have great memories of Eden under the guidance of George and will cherish them for years to come. Years later we bought a house on Line 1 and the Wichert family became our neighbours as their farm bordered our backyard. Memories keep flowing back at a time like this and my prayer for you is that the memories you have of him sustain you during this difficult time. Corney and Margie Enns

Dear Wichert Family,
My family lived next to George's family compound on Niven Road. George taught me math while I was attending Eden Christian College, as it was called then, in the late 1950s. I worked hard as a student but could never get my head around math - and still can't !. I attribute my being able to pass math for at least one of those years due to George's kindness. Following his massage therapy appointment with my father, Artur Schmitt whose office was in our house, George frequently came to my rescue as I struggled with my math homework at the dining room table. I have had a soft spot in my heart for him ever since.
He lived life richly and well. A life of service. Blessings as you reminisce and celebrate a life well lived.
