Dear Pat and Jean:
I just watched your Dad's funeral. What a lovely tribute. I remember your Dad sitting in the top pew of the choir. He had such a dry sense of humour and would always be joking, in low German, with the person beside him. I didn't understand a word he was saying, but found it hilarious to hear and watch. One time, your mom fainted in church. She was O.K. but later Abner said to me
"What a terrible feeling to see the person you've spent most of your life with, falling over, helpless". I thought it was so lovely, that after so many years of marriage, he spoke so lovingly of her. A couple of friends and I would take our guitars and host a Sing-a-Long at Pleasant Manor once a month. I was happy to see Abner attend, after he had his knee surgery, because I knew he loved Country Gospel and many of the Country Classics we did.
You are lucky to have so many memories of this wonderful man.
