Fred was a true survivor. He fought multiple bouts of cancer, beginning at the age of 21, yet he always bounced back. Fred lived a full and happy life. He was a lifelong member of the Mennonite Church where he enjoyed participating in singing groups, choirs, leading Bible Study and Sunday School classes.
Fred and Helen enjoyed travelling. The family made many memories during their camping trips to Saskatchewan to visit Helen’s family. Later in life, they travelled to Europe, throughout Canada, and the Caribbean. His children and grandchildren have many fond memories of these trips.
Fred worked as a machinist at TRW Canada for 36.5 years. Upon retirement, he pursued his passion for gardening and farming full time. Always full of energy, he made significant contributions to his own family’s flowers, trees and plants, while becoming involved in volunteer garden projects in his community.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff who lovingly cared for Fred for the past 5 months. Huge thanks also goes to Dr. Woodland for his exceptional care.
Fred’s family will receive the comforts of friends and family at Vineland of Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St., Vineland, on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the Vineland United Mennonite Church, 3327 Menno Street, Vineland, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00AM with refreshments to follow in the church auditorium.
