Dear Adrian, John and Trudy,
Herewith the deepest condolences of Grie (Steen) van Tuijl, a niece of Nel Vroom. She (Grie, my mother, 88 years young, living in Zwolle, Netherlands) visited Albert and Nel back in 2003, together with my father Jan Steen, my mother´s brother Jan van Tuijl (so, of course, a cousin of Nel), and his wife Marrie. That has been the last time they saw each other. My father Jan died in January 2004, and my aunt Marrie passed away a couple of years ago. Jan van Tuijl lives in the city of Giessenburg and will complete 90 years next April 1st.
I asked my mother to look after some pictures of the 2023 visit. If/when she finds them, I will try to upload them here, of send them to any email-address you might make available.
I myself visited Canada for the first time last October, but only made it to Quebec and Montreal. Hope to get to know more of your beautiful country in the future…
Kind regards, Laurens Steen

Dear Adrian, John and Trudy, please accept my heartfelt condolences for the passing away of your dear father, the man I knew as Oom (or Uncle) Albert. I have many fond memories of your dad, particularly of the summers that I spent working on the farm near Lucknow. I remember him as a “gentle giant”. A hard worker who would also play and have fun. Running around chasing a soccer ball with us on the front lawn on a Sunday afternoon. Or sitting down with Uncle Jake for a serious game of chess. He taught me how to drive the Massey and Ford tractors and run all the haying equipment and manure spreader. He showed me how to drive the green pickup truck… when I was just 13 years old. Those were the best summers of my life. I was very privileged and blessed to have spent those summers with your family on the farm. Uncle Albert is someone who greatly impacted my life and I will always remember him. I look forward to seeing him again one day. Shalom, Frank Rhebergen
