Dear Caroline and Liz and Family,
I have been hesitant to post my words because I don't have any... just profound sadness over this loss.
Tante Antje was one of the kindest and most genuine souls I have ever known. With no family in Canada you guys were my family growing up. Memories at the cottage are cherished. Your mothers, cucumber salad so delicious and her casual nature in caring for 'her girls' made me feel so included like I was one of your sisters. The friendship our fathers had from their workplace bound our families together and was special.
I've been struggling to write this, but I want you to know how loved you are and that she will always be with you.
Please know that I'm thinking of you. With heartfelt sympathy and love.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I know that we all have lost touch, but I certainly have nothing but fond memories of your mom and your entire family. I remember your parents' great spirit and gentle kindness. It is sad to think as we get older, we are pained to see the loss of those we love, and who loved us, like your mom loved you both, Caroline and Elizabeth and I am sure the love spread to your families. The good thing is that our parents never truly leave us. I am sure your mom is in your thoughts, in your heart, and watching over you. She is still loving you and helping you, just from afar.
God bless you both, Antje's girls, and your families. David Simon

I am surprised how few words are spoken in the face of death and dying. While the rain pours here 2 weeks later I log in to check on my mom's site. It is interesting to see how quickly society wants to forget and move on with their lives as if nothing has passed. But in Tao the belief is such that, 'on the seventh day of the demise, the soul of the dead would come back to visit the home and guide and advise family members to prepare a favorite meal or dish' It is an irony that my sister mentioned she would bake a black forest cake last weekend. Tao also believes that the human being who has died will be reborn into another human being from another time based on previous life. Taking in consideration then, human beings shall do good and benefit others as their virtues spread positive energy.' Taoists believe in spiritual immortality...This gives strength to my day that somehow we have survived this loss of a beautiful life.

Life is in the learning. Death is also learning. Each day I wake and see the memorial I have made for mom. It awakes me to the beauty we shared.
But what truly matters is the things that help us make it day to day after the fact.

Oma was a special person to everyone she met, whenever it was her famous cooking for family get togethers or her smile, everyone saw something in her they loved.
One of my favorite memories was driving Oma to the local McDonalds and getting her famous Fish Filet and sitting down by the water. We all miss you so much.
All our hearts are heavy as we miss the person who always had the best food and company.
Love you loads, Oma.

"And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses restored never to be the same whisper to us they existed. We can be. Be and be better for they existed." Maya Anjelou
No words can describe the deep sadness I feel of a journey left unfinished. My mom my friend and my hero. I will remember the laughter, the smile and her hugs. I will remember her happiness that overjoyed our world. I will remember our times together sharing food, thought and fun times. I will always think of her when she called, 'hello, this is mom calling... call me back' So powerful and happy. I will remember how she wanted to go for ice cream. How we shared times up north and in Vineland. Time is different now and there is a strong silence that keeps me wondering. But with this wonder I will remember all the beautiful moments we shared in our life together. Because together was better. We miss you mom. Thank you for the infinite wonders you have blessed us with. They will grow with us to foster new hope and faith for a better world. I will never forget you. Your are greatly loved by me and Derek!
